Aventience U.S. School Calendar Dataset — 2026–27
Clean — normalized, documented, and validated — U.S. public-school calendar data, built around one core promise: complete, validated scheduled full-day nonattendance for every available district. Partial-day schedule changes are included when we can source them reliably. Delivered in CSV and Parquet, priced transparently, and licensed for a buyer's own analysis, forecasting, and product use.
What's included: core and supplemental signals
The dataset is built around one core signal: complete, validated, scheduled full-day student nonattendance — the planned closures, breaks, holidays, professional-development days, and similar full days off that a district has scheduled on its own official calendar. This is what the dataset's completeness promise is based on, and it's what its price is based on, for every district that's currently available.
Alongside that core signal, we include partial-day schedule changes — early releases, late starts, and similar — whenever we can source them reliably. These supplemental signals are a genuine part of the dataset, but they work differently from the core signal: they aren't part of the completeness promise, and they aren't separately priced. If a partial-day change isn't reliably available for a district, that district's full-day nonattendance data is still complete — the supplemental layer is a bonus on top, not a dependency underneath.
Planned calendar revisions and instructional-day milestones (first and last day of school) are part of the core edition too. Emergency closures — weather and similar — may be added once officially confirmed; we don't offer real-time closure alerting, and we're not building toward it. Where a documented gap exists in an otherwise available district, we disclose it rather than hide it — known exclusions, not silent ones.
How it's delivered
The dataset ships as two views, so you can work with it however fits your pipeline: events, with one record per calendar event or date range, and event_dates, with one record per individual calendar date inside that range — so you can join directly by date without expanding ranges yourself. Both views are delivered in CSV and Parquet.
Every order comes with documentation, a manifest describing exactly what's in your package, and checksums. Weekday and weekend status is explicit throughout, so a weekend that happens to fall inside a school break is clearly marked as a weekend — not miscounted as a closure.
Coverage and pricing
Aventience's national list price is $15,000 for 100% of Aventience's currently available U.S. dataset — every district we currently have available, in the release you buy from. Districts we add after your purchase are never added to your order automatically; they require a separate purchase at the price in effect at that time.
Most buyers don't need the full national dataset. A subset — a state, a region, or a specific set of districts — is priced proportionally, based on how much of Aventience's currently available coverage your selection represents. We don't publish a district count or a coverage percentage publicly, since our current release coverage isn't yet something we're prepared to state as a public figure; when you tell us what you're looking for, we'll show you exactly what's available in your area of interest and calculate your price from there.
Updates and corrections
We issue routine updates quarterly — each one may include newly available districts and corrected districts, and we never resend data that hasn't changed. If you report an error and we confirm it, the fix is a material correction issued immediately, not held for the next quarterly cycle, and it goes out to every customer entitled to that district, not just the one who reported it. A district's own official calendar revision — a change the district makes to its own future schedule — is different from a correction on our part, and it's simply reflected in the core edition as it happens.
Use and attribution
Records you actually download are yours to use indefinitely — that right doesn't expire. It's separate from your window to get the files in the first place: each download link is valid for 14 days, and you can generate a fresh one any time during the one-year period following your purchase.
A single purchase covers two distinct kinds of use, and they carry different obligations:
- Internal use — analysis, feature engineering, and model training inside your own organization — carries no attribution requirement at all.
- Embedded use — building the data into your own products or services — is also included, subject to one rule: if what you build directly displays four or more districts, it needs a visible "Powered by Aventience" credit, linked where practical. Displaying up to three districts, or producing internal analysis or non-identifiable derived output of any kind, needs no attribution regardless of district count.
These are two different permissions bundled into one license, not one blanket right — we want you to know exactly what applies where.
See it for yourself — the sample
Before you buy anything, look at the data. Aventience publishes a fixed, free sample covering three districts — real, rights-cleared districts wherever possible, or a clearly labeled representative/synthetic set built to the same schema if that clearance isn't complete — so you can review the schema, check the events/event_dates structure, and estimate integration effort firsthand. The sample is a fixed illustration, not a representative measure of overall coverage — it's there to show you the shape of the data, not how much of the country is available.
Ready to order
Every order gets direct attention — tell us the districts, the region, or the coverage you're after, and we'll confirm what's currently available, calculate your price, and put the order together with you.
Tell us what you need, and we'll put together an order built around it.
Working with a partner
If you're already working with a forecasting, planning, or analytics provider, ask whether they're part of Aventience's launch partner program — they can refer or support your purchase, but the license and the data always belong to your organization.
